Fireweed Wine
Fireweed (Chamaenerion angustifolium), Colorado River Headwaters, Beet Sugar, Lalvin D47 Yeast
Edition of 45
2023
In the summer of 2023, Fireweed blossoms were collected from Stillwater Pass in Colorado—three years after the East Troublesome Fire moved across Grand County burning over 190,000 acres. The flowers were steeped in Colorado River headwaters collected from its nearby origin running down the Continental Divide, along with beet sugar and commercial wine yeasts. Fermented, bottled, and cellared in the Front Range.
Tasting notes: sweet citrus zest, honeysuckle, juicy fruit gum, and strawberry, with an herbal, dry finish.
Stillwater Pass, Grand County, CO
